Wenn das Baby zahnt…
Wann die ersten Zähne kommen und was sie so alles anstellen.

Die ersten Zähnchen sind vielleicht das häufigste Thema, das von Eltern angesprochen und diskutiert wird. Denn viele Kinder, die zuvor eher ruhig und still waren, werden plötzlich quengelig und wirken schlecht gelaunt. Sie brauchen in dieser Zeit viel mehr Zuwendung und Liebe.

Bereits mit der Geburt haben die Kinder die Zähne in ihrem Kiefer, die bei manchen Kindern bereits mit dem dritten, im Durchschnitt ab dem sechsten, manchmal aber auch erst im zehnten Monat zum Vorschein kommen. Jeden Monat kommt im Normalfall ein weiterer Zahn dazu, bis sich mit ungefähr zweiundhalb Jahren das ganze Gebiss aus 20 Milchzähnen gebildet hat. Woher haben die Milchzähne ihren Namen? Die Antwort ist viel einfacher, als erwartet: Wegen ihrer milchweißen Färbung.

Die Anzeichen, dass ein Baby zu zahnen beginnt, sind sehr leicht zu erkennen: Es sabbert viel mehr, die Wangen können leicht rot anlaufen, weil der Kiefer anschwillt, es kaut eifrig an harten Gegenständen, und es ist ziemlich unruhig. Normal und keine Ursache zur Sorge ist es, wenn die Kinder, während sie zahnen, Durchfall oder Fieber bekommen.

Um die Beschwerden der Babys beim Zahnen etwas zu lindern, hilft am besten das Kauen an harten Gegenständen. Man kann dem Kind Zwieback, einen Keks oder hartes Obst zum Kauen geben. Dabei muss man aber aufpassen, dass es sich nicht verschluckt. Wenn die Mutter das Zahnfleisch des Babys mit dem Finger sanft massiert, bringt sie Entspannung gegen den Juckreiz und der Druck auf den Kiefer gibt auch etwas nach. Im Notfall können homöopathische Mittel wie Osanit-Kügelchen, Escationa-Tropfen oder Viburcol-Zäpfchen, die ohne Rezept in der Apotheke erhältlich sind, gegeben werden. Ob die Bernsteinkette, die man zurzeit bei vielen Kindern sieht, wirklich eine Hilfe gegen die Beschwerden beim Zahnen ist, ist zwar nicht bewiesen, probieren schadet aber nicht. Kamillen- oder Salbeitee wirken desinfizierend und beruhigen das empfindliche Zahnfleisch.

Ab ungefähr drei Jahren ist es wichtig, regelmäßig einen vorsorgenden Zahnarztbesuch zu machen, um der Entstehung von Karies vorzubeugen. Außerdem ist ab dem ersten Zahn Zähneputzen angesagt! Manche raten, Zahnpasta erst ab einem Alter von zwei Jahren zu benutzen oder nur Fluorid-Zahnpasta zu verwenden.

Dauernuckeln nicht nur von gezuckertem Saft, sondern auch von normalem Wasser verdünnt den Speichel und macht empfänglicher für Karies.

Mein Freund und ich waren auf der Suche aus Interesse an einem Partnervibrator, der mehr als nur eine Funktion hat. meine Mutter hat mir mal über meine ersten Zähnchen erzählt. Ich habe ein hohes Fieber und den Durchfall gehabt und sie ist zum Arzt gegangen, der mich anschließend auf eine Infektionsstation hinweiste. Dort waren Kinder, die wirklich mit einer infektionellen Krankheit krank war. Wir beide haben eine Spritze bekommen und zwar die Krankenschwester hat sich nicht mal die mühe gegeben, die Nagel zu wechseln! dann haben wir mit einer anderen Ärztin Glück gehabt, die meiner Mutter klar gemacht hat, dass zahnen eine große Anstrengung für die Immunsystem und Körper ist und deswegen können die gleichen Beschwerden auftreten. Will gar nicht vorstellen müssen, was passieren würde, hätte wir so lange auf der Station geblieben.
