Wo der Ernst endet, fängt der Humor an
„Die 39 Stufen“ in den Wiener Kammerspielen in der Josefstadt.

Als wenn sich Indiana Jones, Sherlock Holmes und Charlie Chaplin vereint hätten, um dem Publikum in den Wiener Kammerspielen in der Josefstadt einen unvergesslichen Abend zu schenken. Aus Leiter mach Brücke, aus Papierfliegern eine Kampfszene hinter einem Vorhang. Wer braucht schon Special effects und Stunts, die uns vom Phantasieren abbringen. „Die 39 Stufen“ in den Wiener Kammerspielen in der Josefstadt vereinen Intrigen, Liebe, einen Kriminalfall und seine Auflösung, die alle ineinander verwickelt sind. Regisseur Werner Sobotka bringt den berühmten Klassiker des Kriminalgenres nach dem Film von Alfred Hitchcock „Die 39 Stufen“ auf die Bühne. Genial, altmodisch und überaus witzig.
 
 
Judith Leikauf und Karl Fehringer, welche das Bühnenbild für „Die 39 Stufen“ konstruiert haben, sind wohl kaum noch zu übertreffen. Der Phantasiereichtum, wobei oft genug ein wenig nachgefragt werden muss („Was ist das?“ – „Eine Felsspalte!“/ „Was war das?“ – „Eine Drehtür!“), bringen auch die jüngeren Zuschauer zum Nachdenken, dann zum Lachen und im Endeffekt zum Erstaunen, wie viel man aus wenig machen kann. Ernst lässt sich der Inhalt im Endeffekt dann kaum noch wahrnehmen, da alleine schon die Sterbeszene des Professors Jordan übertrieben ausgedehnt und parodiert wird, wobei dem Hauptdarsteller Hannay (brillant von Alexander Pschill gespielt) der Geduldsfaden reißt („Passt schon! Wir haben schon verstanden.“). Alles in allem macht das Stück, das im Grunde einen ernsthaften Kern zum Inhalt hat, den Eindruck einer  Groteske aus Gefühlen und misslungenen Kriminalhandlungen. Im Endeffekt ist das nicht nur die Geschicklichkeit der Hauptdarsteller, die die Welt retten, sondern vor allem die Ungeschicklichkeit und Dummheit der Spione, an der die letzteren schließlich scheitern.
 
 
Frauenfeindlich bleibt die Darstellung von Margaret (genial von Ruth Brauer-Kvam verkörpert), die mit ihrem wesentlich älteren Mann in einem abgewohnten dörflichen Gebiet wohnt. Vom Mann geschlagen, misshandelt, lebt sie in ihren Phantasien von den Abenden, die sie noch vor ihrer Heirat in der Stadt verbracht hat. Jeden Freitag war die Stadt voller Leben, Lebensfreude, Menschen. Im Dorf hat sie nur Kühe, Hühner und den tyrannischen Mann. Anstelle sich ein besseres Leben zu beschaffen will sie Hannay helfen, sich aus den Fängen der Polizei zu befreien und seine Freiheit wiederzuerlangen. Im Gegenzug dafür schwört Hannay, Margaret nie zu vergessen. Ihr Name fällt ihm allerdings bereits eine Sekunde, nachdem sie diesen gesagt hat, nicht mehr ein. 
 
 
Das unverwechselbar Positive an dem Stück ist, dass man nicht genug davon bekommen kann. Ein positiver Abend für Groß und Klein für gute Laune.
