Russell Brand ist überzeugt, dass der Ursprung seiner Suchtprobleme in seiner Kindheit zu suchen ist.

Der Komödiendarsteller, der in der Vergangenheit mit Drogen- und Sexsucht zu kämpfen hatte - glaubt, dass solcherlei Verhalten bereits durch das Verhalten in jungen Jahren entscheidend geprägt wird. Vor allem Fernsehkonsum und schlechte Ernährung sieht der Schauspieler als Wurzel allen Übels.

"Es war ganz offensichtlich in der Art, wie ich als Kind ferngesehen habe. Zu viel Fernsehen, zu viele Schoko-Kekse", gesteht der 37-Jährige in der Zeitung 'The Guardian'. Er erklärt: "Sucht bedeutet für mich, sich immerzu etwas zu gönnen, auch wenn es negative Auswirkungen hat."

Konkret meint Brand damit: "Manche Leute können Schokolade essen und manche essen so viel davon, bis sie fett werden und dann bringen sie sich selbst dazu, alles wieder zu erbrechen. Manche Leute können sich ein wenig Pornographie ansehen, andere schauen sich die ganze Nacht immer abartigere Pornos an."

Brand, der von der Popsängerin Katy Perry geschieden ist, weiß: "Wenn man diese Voraussetzung hat - und ich nenne das Krankheit - dann schlagen Drogen sehr gut darauf an, weil sie ein körperliches Verlangen zu dem psychischen Übel herstellen."
