Heiße Kurven aber keine Kohle
Designschmiede Bertone droht das endgültige Aus

Der ehemalige Nobelschneider aus Turin machte sich einen Namen in der Automobilindustrie. Das Traditionsunternehmen war Hersteller und Designer von Karosserien und Modellvarianten verschiedener Automarken wie Fiat, Lamborghini, Maserati, Citroën, Alfa Romeo, Volvo und Lancia.  Die Bertone Designs waren wegweisend und galten als Inbegriff ps-gewordener Schönheit.


Vor allem der Sohn des Firmengründers, Nuccio Bertone, hatte mit seiner Carozzeria das Aussehen der Autos des 20. Jahrhunderts einzigartig geprägt. Giovanni Bertones Sohn Giuseppe Bertone (1914–1997), Nuccio genannt stieg 1934 in das Familienunternehmen ein.
Nur drei Jahre sollte es dauern, bis Bertone mit seinem stromlinienförmigen Karosserie-Entwurf für den Fiat 1500 den Stylingwettbewerb in Turin gewann.  Fortan war er der Liebling der italienischen Automobil Erzeuger und über die Grenzen des Landes hinaus als Designer begehrt.

In Zusammenarbeit mit Größen wie Scaglione, Giugiaro und Gandini kreierte er belle macchine zum Niederknien. Bekannt für seine stromlinien- und keilförmigen Designs, schuf er Ikonen wie den Lamborghini Countach, den Lamborghini Miura, der als erster Supersportwagen gilt, den Lancia Stratos, der schon vor Felix Baumgartner neue Sphären erschloss, das kantige Gesicht des Alfa Romeo GT und den Aston Martin DB2- 4 Bertone Spider mit dessen Kurven kaum eine Frau mithalten kann.

Neben diesen Ikonen schuf er auch Otto-Normalverbrauchers kleine Lieblinge wie zum Beispiel den Alfa Giulietta Sprint, den Fiat Ritmo und den Fiat 850 Spider.

Nach Nuccios Tod ging es mit der Firma stetig bergab. Das neue Jahrtausend brachte auch einen Wandel in der Branche selbst. Die Automobilhersteller griffen immer weniger auf externe Designer zurück und so blieb Bertone auf der Strecke. Fiat Sport 850Fiat kaufte die Werke auf und Nuccios Witwe Ermelinda führte das Design-Center Stile Bertone in Caprie mehr schlecht als recht weiter.

Zuletzt musste man sogar einen wertvollen Prototypen aus dem Museum versteigern, um der Schulden einigermaßen Herr zu werden.

Bis Ende April muss ein Käufer gefunden werden, sonst gehen die Flügeltüren über Bertone nach 102  Jahren endgültig zu.
