Since 2004, the Actress Masterclasses have provided a stage for leading actresses to explore the world of film through their cinematic experiences and memories. Following on from Catherine Deneuve in 2005 and Gena Rowlands in 2006, another legendary actress will honour us this year with her presence: Sophia Loren.

After presenting the short film La Voce Umana by Edoardo Ponti and the screening of a restored copy of Vittorio De Sica's Matrimonio all’Italiana (Marriage Italian Style), on Tuesday 20th May, the Italian actress looked back at her career and her links with the Festival de Cannes, during an Actress Masterclass held on Wednesday 21st May, and hosted by journalist Danièle Heymann.

Sophia Loren won also a Best Actress prize at Cannes and the Oscar for her role in movie "Two woman".  She continued her work with same director and one of the most important actor - Marcello Mastroianni. The most succesfull movie they have done was "Marriage Italian Style", that shows Italy and the role of woman but also that true love always win in the end. Another fact that can't be fotgotten ist that Sophia Loren came back to Cannes in year 1966 as Prasident of Jury!
